Anglicanism, Now with 100% More Cuban Flavor!

Spread the love

Hello there! I’m Nile Gomez, your Cuban-American guide to the vibrant world of Anglicanism. Welcome to my Anglican blog, where we’ll explore faith, tradition, and modern life through a unique lens. Grab a cup of Cuban coffee, and let’s dive in!

Who Am I? Meet the Anglican Priest Behind the Blog

As an Anglican priest ordained in 2019, I bring a distinctive three-streams perspective to this blog:

  1. Charismatic fervor
  2. Evangelical zeal
  3. Sacramental depth

But there’s more to this Anglican blogger than meets the eye. Born Nilo Gomez Jr., I adapted my name to “Nile” – a small change reflecting my journey of honoring Cuban roots while embracing new beginnings.

From Cuba to Christ: The Making of an Anglican Priest

My story begins with my mother’s brave journey from Cuba in 1968, pregnant with me. I was born in Jersey City, New Jersey – a dramatic entrance that set the stage for an equally dynamic faith journey.

Today, I’m married to my Austrian sweetheart, Doris, adding another layer to my multicultural perspective on Anglicanism.

Beyond the Collar: The Human Side of Your Anglican Guide

When I’m not writing this Anglican blog or tending to priestly duties, you might find me:

  • Engrossed in a sci-fi novel
  • Binge-watching TV shows
  • Playing video games (Yes, priests game too!)
  • Pondering what I’d ask Winston Churchill over dinner

What to Expect from This Anglican Blog

Here’s what you can look forward to as we embark on this Anglican adventure together:

  1. Deep dives into rich Anglican traditions
  2. Discussions on contemporary challenges facing the church
  3. Explorations of how ancient faith speaks to modern life
  4. A healthy dose of humor (because faith should be fun!)
  5. Maybe a meme or two (because why not?)
