You feel like you’re on the sidelines, watching others live out their purpose while you sit in the bleachers, unsure if you even belong in the game. But what if the very things you think disqualify you are the reasons God is calling you closer?

From the bleachers to the field—your calling is waiting. Step into the light.

Stop Waiting for Permission

Most people live like they’re stuck in the worst seat in the stadium—the nosebleeds, five escalators up, climbing 38 steps just to squeeze into a spot where the action feels miles away. They convince themselves that purpose is for someone else. Someone more spiritual. Someone more prepared.

But that’s a lie.

The truth? God doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called.

And He’s calling you.

If you’ve been waiting for a grand, undeniable sign that it’s your time—this is it. Let’s talk about how you step into it.

God Uses the Unlikely—That Means You

If you feel unworthy of your calling, you’re in good company. Some of the most powerful leaders in Scripture had the exact same reaction:

  • Isaiah saw a vision of God’s glory and panicked: “Woe is me! I am ruined!”
  • Peter witnessed Jesus’ power and immediately responded: “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”
  • Paul literally persecuted Christians before Jesus turned his life upside down.

None of them felt “ready.” None of them saw themselves as great leaders. And yet, God brought them closer.

So what makes you think you’re any different?

If you feel unworthy, congratulations—you’re exactly the kind of person God tends to use.

God Shows Up in the Middle of Your Life

A person standing in their everyday workspace—a fishing boat, an office, or a kitchen—is suddenly illuminated by a soft golden light streaming in. The contrast between the ordinary setting and the divine glow symbolizes how God meets people in the midst of their daily lives, calling them to a greater purpose.
God isn’t waiting for you to be perfect. He meets you where you are.

Peter wasn’t in a temple when Jesus called him. He wasn’t on a spiritual retreat. He was fishing.

Jesus met him in his ordinary routine—the place he spent every single day. That’s how God operates.

He doesn’t wait for you to be in some perfect state. He meets you in your:
✔ Job
✔ Struggles
✔ Doubt
✔ Failures

God doesn’t call some distant, polished version of you. He calls the real you, right where you are.

✅ Action Step: If you feel stuck, start by shifting your perspective. Look for where God might already be moving in your current season—because that’s likely where your calling begins.

The One Thing Holding You Back? Fear.

When Peter realized who Jesus was, his instinct was to push Him away.

Sound familiar?

How often do we feel a pull toward something bigger, yet convince ourselves we’re not ready?

  • What if I fail?
  • What if people judge me?
  • What if I’m not good enough?

Fear is the biggest liar in the room. It’s not a prophecy. It’s a defense mechanism.

And comfort zones never lead to impact.

Jesus’ response to Peter’s fear wasn’t rebuke. It was simple: “Do not be afraid.”

That’s your word too. You don’t need to wait for fear to disappear. You need to move in spite of it.

✅ Action Step: If fear is keeping you stuck, read Do It Scared by Ruth Soukup. It breaks down how to push past fear and step boldly into your calling. Grab it here on Amazon.

Grace Covers Everything You Think Disqualifies You

A person stands in an open field, their posture reflecting shame or hesitation, as a golden light gently envelops them. The warm glow symbolizes God’s grace, covering every fear, mistake, and insecurity, reminding them that they are called despite their past.
Your past doesn’t disqualify you—God’s grace has already covered it.

Peter thought his sinfulness was a dealbreaker. Jesus never even brought it up.

Instead of condemning Peter, Jesus gave him a mission: “From now on, you will catch men.”

You might think your past disqualifies you. It doesn’t.
You might think you’re not spiritual enough. That’s not how grace works.
You might believe someone else would do a better job. That’s not your decision to make.

Jesus already made the decision to invite you.

And you don’t have to figure everything out before you say yes.

✅ Action Step: If you struggle with feeling disqualified, The Grace Awakening by Charles Swindoll will change your perspective on how grace actually works. Check it out here on Amazon.

What Happens When You Say Yes?

Peter’s life didn’t change when he understood Jesus. It changed when he followed Him.

A lot of people want clarity before they take action. But calling doesn’t work that way. You don’t get clarity first. You get clarity along the way.

And the only way to start is to take one step forward.

Your Action Plan

  1. Show up where you are. God meets you in your daily life, not some ideal future version of yourself.
  2. Push past fear. If your biggest reason for staying stuck is fear, that’s a sign you need to move forward.
  3. Accept grace. You don’t have to be perfect to start. You just have to start.

You’ve spent long enough wondering if you’re called.

You are.

Now, what are you going to do about it?
