“Take off your sandals. The place where you are standing is holy ground.”
— Exodus 3:5

Some moments hit too close. That’s why we skip them.
The song that stings.
The verse that exposes.
The memory you’ve buried under productivity.

But Lent doesn’t let us look away.
Especially not this Sunday.

The bush is burning. The question is—will you stop and look?

1. Holy Ground Isn’t Always Obvious (Exodus 3:1–15)

Moses wasn’t praying.
He wasn’t fasting.
He was doing chores.

And that’s when God showed up.
A bush lit up but didn’t burn out.
Then came the voice:
“Take off your sandals. This place? It’s holy ground.”

Moses thought he was in hiding.
Turns out he was being positioned.

That’s how God works.
He finds us when we’re not looking. And calls us by name.

check out The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence.

Do this: Next time you’re bored, ask God what He’s saying.
Don’t do this: Assume silence means absence. It rarely does.

2. If You Don’t Remember, You Can’t Repent (Psalm 103 & 1 Corinthians 10:1-13)

A person sits alone on a bench at dusk, overlooking a valley with a journal or photo in hand. The sky glows with streaks of golden light breaking through moody clouds, evoking deep introspection.
“You cannot repent of what you do not remember.”
— Anonymous Theologian

Psalm 103 says God is merciful and gracious.
Paul, though? He reminds us of the ones who had everything and still messed it up.

That’s not cruelty. That’s clarity.
You can’t grow if you forget what stunted you.

We crave comfort. We fear lack. We fake control.
And half the time, we pretend we’re above it.

Lent says: Slow down. Remember.
Not to shame you. To free you.

📕 Recommended Resource: Need help unpacking that inner chaos?
Try The Return of the Prodigal Son by Henri Nouwen.

Do this: Make a list of things God brought you through.
Don’t do this: Keep pretending you’re self-made.

3. Barren Doesn’t Mean Broken (Luke 13:1-9)

That fig tree wasn’t doing much.
So the owner said, “Cut it down.”
But the gardener—the patient one—said,
“Give me one more year.”

Some of us read that and feel exposed.
Because we feel like the tree.

Here’s the thing:
God’s patience isn’t passive. It’s intentional.

He’s not tolerating your life. He’s investing in it.

📗 Recommended Resource: If you’ve been spiritually checked out,
read Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Peter Scazzero. It’s a reset you didn’t know you needed.

Do this: Stay rooted. Even dry soil can change.
Don’t do this: Confuse hustle with growth.

The Fire Is Still Burning

A small fire burns in the desert before sunrise, its warm embers glowing against dark sand. Thin smoke rises into the quiet, shadowed air. The background reveals a faint path barely visible in the firelight.
“The bush is still burning. The invitation still stands.”

You’ve skipped the song long enough.
You’ve ignored the nudge.
You’ve labeled this season as “stuck.”

What if it’s just the setup?

Take off your sandals. The bush is still burning.
This might be the moment that shifts everything.
